Teachers’ notes and lesson plans
A set of teachers’ notes and a series of lesson plans accompany the event. These can be used to prepare for and complement the event. Participating teachers would have received their access codes via email, but any teacher can download the lesson plans from here and use them in classrooms, either whilst observing the event or as stand alone activities.

Debate kit: Drugs in Sport
This kit can be used as an alternative to Lesson 4 in the ‘I’m a Scientist – Lesson plans and teacher notes’ which accompany the event (see above).
The Drugs in Sport debate kit was developed by the UK I’m a Scientist team, sponsored by The Physiological Society. The I’m a Scientist team in Australia have edited this kit to relate closer to Australian sports and profiles, and the Australian curriculum.
The debate kit contains a 50 minute lesson plan and 8 character cards, which students use to discuss the effect of doping compared with other techniques of improving performance. Adopting characters helps students develop their opinions over time without leaping to an immediate conclusion.
The kit is designed for students aged between 11-18 years.
You can download the Drugs in Sport debate by clicking on the link below.

Eviction poster – every vote counts!
We have created an eviction poster for you and your class to see who is still in the running to crowned the winner in your zone. It’s a great way to encourage students to vote.

Press release template
Participating schools from past events have told us that they enjoy finding ways for their activities to be profiled in their community. To help with this, we have put together a press release template for participating schools.
All you need to do is download the file below, update the template with your school name, a couple of quotes from participating teachers and students, and you school contact details. Then send your press release to your admin/marketing office of your local media contacts (local newspapers and TV stations).
