Outlook Conference 2013

Students from the March 2013 I’m a Scientist event had the opportunity to see a couple of their questions answered at the Outlook Conference on Tuesday 5th March. The panel included our scientists Kim Ritman (the Chief Scientist at ABARES), Dominique Cottrell and Rebecca Doyle, as well as Roslyn Prinsley, the new advisor to Australia’s Chief Scientist.

Check out the Science and Education session on the ABARES Outlook 2013 channel on YouTube to see what the panel had to say.

Letters to Sir David Attenborough

A blog of letters all addressed to Sir David Attenborough about the impact of his work in terms of influencing people’s love of science, their career paths and how they view the world. The letters come from countries near and far.

This website was developed by two of our I’m a Scientist alumni, Upulie Divisekera (winner of the Health Zone June 2011 and Magdeline Lum (Hydrogen Zone, June 2011).

The blog can be used as a source for a student-led discussion about opinion forming and how this is influenced by information obtained from TV, radio, books and individuals in their lives i.e. teachers and parents. Students could be asked which scientist they would invite to their dinner party, and why.
